Search for missing Kenyan-based Dutch tycoon and golfer Tob Cohen has been closed after his decomposing body was discovered inside an underground water tank at his Kitusuru home.
Homicide detectives led by Director of Criminal Investigation George Kinoti combed the crime scene leading to the shocking discovery on Friday, September 13.
Speaking to journalists, Kinoti confirmed the body was wrapped in many layers of clothing and had all the signs of a physical torture prior to his death.
“It is a gruesome murder, they took their time to kill innocent Cohen. He was bound; legs, hands and neck before he was murdered and then they hid him in an underground water tank. They took their time,” he said.
The said water storage had been completely sealed with concrete and covered with bushy wood cuttings.
His friend identified as Patrick with whom they played golf two days before he went missing on the night of July 19, said Cohen was concerned about his life.
“I had spoken to him that night he went missing, we used to talk regularly. He was very concerned about his life. He never hid the fact that if anything happens to him Sarah would be responsible. He had complained to the authorities about this issue,” a sobbing Patrick said.
Cohen and Wairimu did not get a child but adopted a daughter.
The two were embroiled in a bitter property row.
